Decorating a Mudroom

I have always wanted a mudroom ever since seeing an episode of Sarah’s House on HGTV. She was completely overhauling a home she bought and doing up the was so spectacular it made me purr. I’ve been thinking a lot about mudrooms lately and how it only really works if you have have a functional mudroom, not just a place that becomes another black hole filled with crap.  Below are a couple of essentials that  I think are necessary for a mudroom.

Shoe Racks

Complete Mudrooms

Personally, I think as long as you have a place for shoes, umbrellas and backpacks (if you have children) then it’s very feasible to create a functional mudroom. You can find great inexpensive baskets to store items at places like Home Goods, Ross & TJ Maxx’s.

I have always wanted a mudroom and when I eventually retire to the rainy Pacific Northwest, I think it is essential. I think whatever you choose to put on the floor is also an important decision.

Sarah, from Sarah’s House on HGTV is my favourite decorator, and designer – ever. I think we have similar tastes in decorating. Except she’s more bold and playful with her colours. I would be too, if I knew how exactly it’d look put together – but picking it all out gives me butterflies haha.

The umbrella stand in #2 (wooden box) and #3 (CUTE faux rain boots) are totally up my ally.
